Westfield Old Orchard
Mall Cube

Skokie, IL, United States

Westfield Old Orchard Mall is an open-air upscale shopping center in Skokie, Illinois. It is the third largest mall in Illinois. To increase revenue and create a statement structure that will attract retailers and consumers alike, JGMA, in cooperation with Thornton Tomasetti Building Skin, designed a 1,300 square foot Glass Cube. The Cube is available for retailers to lease during peak times and at times of new product launches. It also hosts informal gatherings and is the backdrop for summer concert series.

The Glass Cube is located at the intersection of three main promenades, functioning as a central node and landmark for the mall. As mall-goers approach from the north, the full height pivot glass doors draw people in. As consumers pass by the 20’-0” high glass walls on either side, they are drawn in by the clear visibility of products on display throughout the space. The Glass Cube opened summer 2013, bringing an exciting and unique shopping experience.
